The Quicksilver Mine Co. opens ‘Bakers Dozen 2011,’ the Forestville gallery’s annual group exhibition featuring 13 Northern California artists, on Friday, Jan. 21.
A reception for the artists will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22. The exhibit runs through Feb. 27. Gallery hours are 11 a.m to 6 p.m. Thursday through Monday.
This year’s show features:
– Collaborative poetry and antique letterpress broadsides by printmaker Micah Schwaberow, poet Elizabeth Herron and writer/letterpress artist Eric Johnson.
– Altered books by Sally Seymour.
– Word-related drawings and paintings by Brian Howlett, Michael Coy and Cecilia Hallinan.
– Lin Max’s ‘Gray Matters,’ collages (created from scribblings by Eleanor Hugins).
– Brooke Holve’s poetic box constructions;.
– Jack Carter’s artist books and drawings.
– Loreen Barry’s archetypal language and meticulous assemblage constructions.
– Letterpress “word image” pictures by Laurie Szujewska of Ensatina Press.
– Poet Pat Nolan’s block print broadsides.
A literary event, ‘Art Words,’ will be held in conjunction with the exhibit, at 7 p.m. Feb. 24.
